Should You Delete Your Facebook In 2021?
There is a growing number of companies that are deleting their Facebook pages. Most SEO experts will tell you that social media is extremely important for getting that coveted first page of a Google search. Facebook is the largest online network with more than 1.56 billion active daily users who share billions of pieces of content every day. So what would make an SEO expert suggest you get rid of your Facebook business page?
Here's a list of reasons why some people have decided to give the 'book a boot:
- Facebook requires a ton of time to manage, which means a ton of money.
- Your Facebook page can take traffic away from your business website.
- Facebook can take revenue from your ecommerce store.
- It requires you to cater to your audience and not the other way around.
- Facebook can connect your business with people that don't actually want it.
- It can be the wrong environment for more professional businesses.
- Facebook can have too much control over your content.
- Fan numbers can be misleading.
- The temptation to purchase likes, which will make your account seem less authentic.
- Facebook like Google, changes its search and feed algorithm regularly.
- It can deliver a form of content that isn't useful to your audience.
- Negative comments on your page can actually create a negative image, and most aren't even customers.
- Facebook is full of clickbait, memes, and other stuff that doesn't relate to your business.
- Facebook has ads every 4 posts now, which is distracting and overwhelming.
- The analytic tools aren't actionable enough to get a good picture like Google Analytics.
- Facebook punishes non-paid ads and content.
- Recent events have seen Facebook in a negative light and viewed as unethical.
- Facebook has violated privacy in the past.
- Customer service is basically nonexistent.
What does all of this mean?
With all the different voices giving you advice to dump Facebook, what should you do? It really comes down to your individual business and the way it interacts with your audience. If you are seeing conversions, traffic, and positive interactions, it is our opinion to stay on Facebook. As long as you aren't wasting a ton of time and seem to be getting something out of it - and it seems to be fulfilling a goal - keeping your account would probably be a good idea.
